Aaron Rodgers experienced a complete achilles tendon rupture. This is a significant injury for any elite athlete. The Achille is the strongest tendon in the body, and it’s important for any activity that requires push-off(jumping, running, cutting). This is important for almost any position on an NFL team. Rodgers underwent surgical repair and is currently undergoing rehab. There are other QBs before him that made incredible returns, notably Dan Marino. He had a phenomenal comeback, being named to the pro bowl in some of the seasons that followed his injury. There are studies that demonstrate return to play for NFL players can be as low as 57%, with WR and RBs having the toughest time coming back. Another study looking at elite athletes demonstrated inferior performance for NBA players after their return to play. Can Rodgers beat the odds and return this season? Anything is possible. He has an incredible team behind him and he is highly motivated. I will be rooting for him.
